Memorial Day — Special Day of Honor

Today is a special day of honor set aside by Congress to honor those service personnel that died in the line of duty protecting our country, originally called Decoration Day and is now known as Memorial Day.

So amid all your three-day holiday vacation, remember the real reason this day was created. Place a wreath on the grave of fallen servicemen at your local cemetery and if your city or town has a Memorial Day parade today, be sure to attend.

And if you are not able to do any of the above mentioned tributes, be sure to at least take a few moments to reflect on the sacrifices made by the fallen servicemen at 3:00pm local time. As suggested on https://www.usmemorialday.org/backgrnd.html

“To voluntarily and informally observe in their own way a Moment of remembrance and respect, pausing from whatever they are doing for a moment of silence or listening to ‘Taps.”

I am a grateful and proud American, thankful for all the trials and tribulations the service men and women have done for me, to make my life full and free!
