David Collins–Weaver’s Words Basket Ezine Editor Dies

I received this sad news yesterday about David Collins the editor of the great Weaver’s Words Yahoo! Groups basketry news digest:

“David’s family regrets to say that David passed away Monday July 18, 2005. It was a peaceful passing and he was at home with his family.

David’s service will be at Shirley Brothers Washington Memorial
Chapel, 9606 E. Washington St. Indianapolis, IN with services to
follow at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be held at Washington Park East
Cemetery, 10612 East Washington, St. Visitation will be held from 12 noon until 2:00 p.m. Friday, July 22, 2005.

In lieu of flowers, please send memorial contributions to the Wheeler Mission Ministries, 245 North Delaware Street, Indianapolis, IN 46204, Phone: (317) 635-3575.

Also some have asked for additional information on David’s passing. David had a rough year with various infections and such. He was having no complaints on Monday, but that evening he became dizzy and lightheaded and went to bed a little early. Upon going to bed his heart apparently just stopped. It all happened very quickly. He will be missed by so many people, but it is comforting to know there is another angel up there watching over us.

Thanks to everyone for their thoughts and comforting words. If further information is needed please contact me at [email protected]

My heartfelt sympathies extend to David’s mother Norma, other family members, friends and all the subscribers of Weaver’s Words ezine. We will all miss David and his great contributions to basketweavers, basket guilds and subscribers of his ezine. He created this cohesive, basketweaving community and perpetuated it through this venue, what a void his passing leaves.
