Great Basin Basketmakers Exhibit and Demos

Molly Gardner - Tall gourd with weaving

In conjunction with the exhibit, Interwoven 2007, the Great Basin Basketmakers (GBB) will offer a series of demonstrations at the Nevada State Museum this summer. GBB members Cheryln Bennett and Molly Gardner share their expertise in a presentation entitled Weaving on Gourds from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 14, 2007.

The mission of the Great Basin Basketmakers is to make baskets, to learn everything about the traditions and techniques of basketry and to pass this knowledge along to others. Regular admission fees apply. For more information, contact Deborah Stevenson at 775-687-4810, ext. 237.

The Nevada State Museum actively engages people in understanding and celebrating Nevada’s natural and cultural heritage. The museum collects, preserves, and presents this heritage through exhibits, educational programs, and publications. Exhibits highlight the state’s geology, history, a replica walk-through mine and ghost town, and Under One Sky: Nevada’s Native American Heritage. The museum is open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily.
