And in the Minnesota Gallery will be “Vernacular” a photography exhibition by photographer Gayle Steier from Eveleth, MN

Due to the 4th of July holiday, the opening art reception has been scheduled for Friday, July 8th from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Thank you goes out to our sponsor: Miskovich Dental Clinic, Grand Rapids, MN.

Here’s the press about the exhibits:

MacRostie Gallery
Peter Pestalozzi: wood furniture & Cathryn Peters: antler baskets
Nature Refined

Inspired and influenced by their surroundings, Pestalozzi and Peters create pieces that are approachable, with familiar aspects for viewers.

Pestalozzi’s furniture creations are based on imagery from kayaking on Lake Superior and canoeing in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area. He lives and works in Ely, MN.

Peters combines the masculine element of the antler with the feminine form of the vessel to create her unique antler baskets. Peters lives and works in Angora, MN.

Minnesota Gallery
Gayle Steier
Vernacular

This exhibition will be composed of primarily black and white photographs as well as some hand-colored and monotone photographs printed on paper or canvas. This series of photographs is concerned with stripping away extraneous detail and seeking simple, universal images that exist in this quiet corner of northern Minnesota. Streier lives and works in Eveleth, MN.

As always, our receptions are free and open to the public.

We will also be celebrating Jaime Lawler’s birthday (Finance & Education Coordinator here at the MAC). Make sure to stop by and wish her a happy birthday! (We’ll have CAKE!)
