Antler basketmaker Cathryn Peters is self-taught and one of Minnesota’s first antler basketmakers, antler basket teachers and is an author of 20 antler basket patterns. She’s specialized in creating one-of-a-kind, original design antler basket sculptures and antler art since 1990.
These rib-style contemporary antler baskets, wall hangings, and antler art pieces are exhibited in juried exhibitions and competitions across the country and are decorator’s dream and a collector’s prize possession.

Whitetail, Fallow, Red Deer, Reindeer, Moose, Elk and Mule Deer antlers are selected from Cathryn’s supply or you can provide an antler yourself to be used in any commission or custom order. Naturally shed antlers are used by request and whenever possible, but are more expensive than harvested.

Natural materials such as wild willow, diamond willow, birch and other barks, red dogwood, lichen, pine cones, and North American native sweetgrass grow on Cathryn’s northern Minnesota farm. They are gathered and processed and incorporated into her antler creations, supplemented with imported commercial dyed, smoked and natural rattan reed.

Whether sculptural or functional, each antler creation is given a special and befitting name, then numbered, signed and dated personally by the artist. A hang-tag is also attached to each antler basket with full disclosure of materials used, name, date of creation and copyright information for further reference.
