Google Friend Connect Retired for non-Blogger Sites

Are you one of the 33 people over there in the right sidebar following my Weavin’ Wicker Woman blog through Google Friend Connect? If so, then you will need to put me in your Google+ circle of friends now instead of using GFC.

As per Google’s blog post a while ago about Google Friend Connect no longer working on non-Blogger sites as of March 1st, I’ll be removing the Google Friend Connect button from over there in the sidebar.

“Google Friend Connect —Friend Connect allows webmasters to add social features to their sites by embedding a few snippets of code. We’re retiring the service for all non-Blogger sites on March 1, 2012. We encourage affected sites to create a  Google+ page and place a  Google+ badge on their site so they can bring their community of followers to Google+ and use new features like Circles and Hangouts to keep in touch.”

As most of you already know, in January of 2011 I closed down my blog on Blogger.com and moved it (with all seven years of posts and pictures!) over here to my domain website, which is on a WordPress platform. And as I’ve just found out, because the Google Friend Connect code won’t even appear here in this blog post, it’s no longer working on my blog–so off it goes!

Please add me to your Google + circles and I’ll add you to mine, too so we stay connected! And thanks for being a loyal follower of my blog and please remember there are lots of other ways to keep in contact via, Twitter , Facebook , LinkedIn , YouTube Google+ and by subscribing to the blog itself.
