Peters Antler Basket Chosen for MN Art Gallery Exhibit

July 27th, 2010 · What's New

Samples of Cathryn Peters Antler Baskets

Cathryn Peters was selected to exhibit one of her deer antler basket sculptures along with 29 other talented artisans from Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, North Dakota and South Dakota at the 18th Annual Juried Art Exhibition in August at the MacRostie Art Center Gallery in Grand Rapids, MN.

Cathryn has been weaving her signature antler baskets since 1990. Her antler baskets grace homes, publications, art shows and galleries throughout the country.

This 18th annual juried art exhibit at the MacRostie Art Center, takes place the entire month of August with an Opening Reception on Friday, August 6, 5-7pm.

Juror Daryn Lowman, art instructor at Hibbing Community College selected 35 works of art from 30 artists representing a wide variety of  two-or three-dimensional media. Artists from the region and surrounding states were invited to submit work samples of up to two pieces in each of the two categories.

Juror Daryn Lowman will also be exhibiting his own ceramic work entitled, “Flux” in the Minnesota Gallery at MacRostie. Lowman says of his ceramic work, “As a ceramic term the word flux means to melt or make fluid. The intention for this show is to bring together works that display the transitions of flux as a material and as a connection to daily life.”

For more information about this exhibition, contact the MacRostie Art Center, 405 NW 1st Ave. Grand Rapids, MN 55744 or call (218) 326-2697 or visit on the web at MacRostieArtCenter.org

Leaving Blogger.com

June 15th, 2010 · blog

I have finally decided after nearly six years (July 17th is my blog anniversary) of blogging on Blogger.com that I will be moving/migrating this blog to my own hosted domain website at http://www.WickerWoman.com

Most likely it will have its own navigation tab and might be something as simple as “blog” or it might continue with “Weavin’ Wicker Woman,” I’m not sure yet.

I’m making the move so everything can be in one place and visitors to my website don’t have to leave the site to visit my blog. And I’m not sure yet just how to go about keeping all the Google Friends and how to keep all the subscribers, but will work on that. Hate to lose all my loyal followers!  It’s been real…
