Basket Guilds–Thursday Thoughts

January 28th, 2011 · Comments Off · Weavin' Wicker Woman Blog

Basket Guilds–Are you a beginning basketmaker or maybe a weaver that’s been at it for a long time, but looking for others to learn from or at least establish “community” with?

Basketmakers at Basket Guild meetings

Maybe you want to find out where all the classes are and attend some state or national conventions? Maybe find out where’s the best place to buy supplies and tools.

Or maybe you just want to surround yourself with other basketweavers to inspire you and get your creative juices flowing?

Take a look at the newly updated Basket Guilds & Basket Weaving Associations page to join a guild near you! And if you live too far away to attend monthly or weekly meetings, consider joining a guild just to receive their newsletters! Some are quite fantastic and elaborate.

Restored missing “Useful Links” page

May 30th, 2009 · Comments Off · What's New

Yikes!!!  Some how or another, the very popular “Useful Links” navigation tab here on WickerWoman.com went AWOL for quite a while. I just noticed that the traffic for the Index page and the subsequent individual pages was down to zero for the last several weeks!

Please take a look at the “Useful Links Index” tab again and peruse the nine individual pages which include, but are not limited to great pages like: Basket Guilds, Publications, Antiques & Collectibles, Basket Workshops, Rustic Furniture, Basketmakers …

Southwestern Ontario Basketry Guild

April 26th, 2009 · Comments Off · Weavin' Wicker Woman Blog

Found some more great Blogger blogs as I was surfing around last night. Most have to do with basketry of course! Got a lot of great ideas from this blog that I’m implementing in my own. See the Picasa Google collage? I did the same thing with my antler basket patterns photos.

Here’s a new basket guild’s blog that seems really active and doing great things: http://southwesternontariobasketryguild.blogspot.com/

Keep in mind that you can always join a guild even though you don’t live near enough to attend meetings. Just join to support the group, get their newsletter and to attend annual meetings or basket conventions when possible.

Wisconsin Basket Guild Featured in Newspaper!

February 17th, 2008 · Comments Off · Weavin' Wicker Woman Blog

The Lake Country Basket Guild and its members were featured in an online article by columnist Laurel Walker from the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel newspaper on February 16, 2008.

Read all about basket guild members Ann Snider, Pam Talsky, Denise Arzberger, Deb Longtin and others on this interesting piece, which certainly does help to promote basketweaving in a positive manner!

As they mention in the article, basket guilds can be found on the Internet, and I of course have several listed on my website that you might be interested in checking out. http://www.WickerWoman.com/links/basketguilds Enjoy!
