Help Save the Comet Theater, Cook, MN- The movie industry has gone digital, but the Comet Theater doesn’t have updated equipment, they still have “reel” films.
So the owners of the Comet, Carol Carlson and John Metsa began a campaign to raise the necessary funds to purchase the digital equipment.
Their funding plans began with a launch on March 15, 2013 through www.kickstarter.com
Now they have just 60 days to raise $80,000 for the purchase and installation of digital equipment at the Comet Theater .
Donations can be made on a major credit card and will be processed through Amazon.com only if the $80,000 goal is reached.
If not enough money is raised in the 60 days of the campaign, this beloved theater will go dark.
Then everyone will have to drive over 30 miles to the nearest movie theater experience fix.
This is such a big deal up here in our little town of Cook, located on the northern edge of the Iron Range and western side of Lake Vermilion, that this cause has been picked up by the Duluth News Tribune, Minnesota Public Radio (MPR), and MinnesotaBrown
I just received word that the Duluth TV station, KBJR channel 6 news at 10:00pm tonight, March 18, 2013 will have a segment on the Save the Comet Kickstarter funding, too!
Have you made your pledge yet and joined the 71 others that have in one day, pledged over $8,000? Do it NOW!
Help us win the plight of losing our one and only theater and the longest continually run one in the State of Minnesota, keep going!
Won’t you help? Please Share with everyone you know!
Until next time…
