Wisconsin Basket Guild Featured in Newspaper!

February 17th, 2008 · Comments Off · Weavin' Wicker Woman Blog

The Lake Country Basket Guild and its members were featured in an online article by columnist Laurel Walker from the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel newspaper on February 16, 2008.

Read all about basket guild members Ann Snider, Pam Talsky, Denise Arzberger, Deb Longtin and others on this interesting piece, which certainly does help to promote basketweaving in a positive manner!

As they mention in the article, basket guilds can be found on the Internet, and I of course have several listed on my website that you might be interested in checking out. http://www.WickerWoman.com/links/basketguilds Enjoy!

Yesterday we worked a bit more on the website, in the Articles, Tip Sheets and Reports area, making it a bit more ‘user friendly". Now you can read and article and go on to the next or go back to the main article listing page. Still working on posting some of the pictures, but check it out!

WickerWoman.com New Site Redesign Launched!

February 15th, 2008 · Comments Off · What's New

Well, as you can see we launched the new WickerWoman.com site redesign and officially went "live" on Monday, February 11, 2008! It was a little premature and ahead of schedule and there are still some bugs to work out and link coding errors to fix, but basically it’s a go! This page is where you will find all changes and updates to the site, and where you should check first for notices of this type.

We’ve added many new pages of context with new how-to articles, and methods of advertising on the site, new support donation buttons, and contact-us page. Still have the useful Resource Links, Events Calendar, Cane and Basket Supplies page and others that were so popular on the old site, like the Wicker FAQ, Seatweaving and Wicker Repair. We’ve redesigned the navigation links and made the whole site more "user-friendly, too."

So please look through all the navigation links to the left on each page, or use the top navigation on some of the pages like: Cane and Basket Supplies; Furniture Repair Directory; Publications; Basket Info Sites to get around. Enjoy!

Domain Host iPower.com switches to new platform!

February 4th, 2008 · Comments Off · Weavin' Wicker Woman Blog

The much awaited web site domain transition from the old platform to the new by my host company, iPower.com has finally taken place with WickerWoman.com, and seems to be working fairly well so far.

The company decided to upgrade to a new platform (in laymen’s terms that’s a new-fangled and improved system), way back in November. I requested that my site be transitioned to the new platform on January 25th and it was just completed yesterday on the 3rd of February. It’s not supposed to take so long, but there was a glitch with the email (I don’t know what), but it’s been fixed.

Since I am the webmaster on my site and have been ever since I started the site in 1999, there’s a lot I have to learn about the new control panel and different coding techniques, etc., etc., etc.
What all this is leading up to is my request for you to look over the whole site and report any problems you find. Use the email addy: Webmaster@WickerWoman.com to report problems.

Thank you so much, getting ready to “launch” a new complete redesign of the entire site soon, too. But right now the new platform is not allowing me access to the new design site, nor can anyone see it yet. Still working out some “bugs” but hope to have that fixed in a day or two also!

Happy Weaving!
